Standing in solidarity with those fighting for their rights locally and globally, Wallonia recognizes that diversity is its strength. A "Zone of Freedom for LGBTQIA+ People" and its 16 measures
In 2021, the region made history by declaring itself a "Zone of Freedom for LGBTQIA+ People." This declaration reflects the region's unwavering commitment to equality and fundamental rights for all individuals, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
Concrete actions have been taken following this declaration, as part of a 2022-2024 comprehensive plan focused on 16 concrete measures.
Wallonia’s plan was developed over several months in collaboration with different associations, led by the PRISME Federation (formerly Arc-en-Ciel Wallonie), and aims to ensure that every person can live authentically and without fear.
The 16 measures include:
1. Increased Funding: Doubling resources for the Maisons Arc-en-Ciel and PRISME Federation to enhance support services.
